Pittsburgh scored in the first five minutes of the contest to take a 1-0 lead. Sydney Segalla just missed on a match-tying goal in the 34th minute as it nailed the crossbar, leading to a 1-0 advantage for the hosts. Wiebke Willebrandt turned in a stellar outing despite the setback, posting a career-high 14 saves. The 14 stops are the fourth most in program history in a single game and the most since Willebrandt's 12 in 2021. The junior keeper now has 208 career saves, becoming one of five goalkeepers in school history to reach the 200-career save mark.Â

ABOUT HEAD COACH JASON LOWE
• Now in his fifth season as the helm of the Eagles, Jason Lowe was named the program's fifth head coach on Jan. 9, 2019.
• Lowe arrived on the Heights after serving on the coaching staff at Wake Forest since 2014, including 2017 and 2018 as associate head coach.
• The Shaker Heights, Ohio native helped the Demon Deacons reach the NCAA tournament Round of 32 in 2017 and the Sweet 16 in 2018.
• Prior to Wake Forest, Lowe served as an assistant coach at Alabama for five seasons and two years at Emory.
• Lowe served as a goalkeeper for the Wake Forest men's soccer team from 1994-97.
• In addition to receiving his bachelor's degree from Wake Forest in 1998, Lowe also earned his MBA in 2002.
ROAD GAUNTLET
• The Eagles have been tested on the road this season, as their opponents have combined for a .604 win percentage.Â
• During its three-match road swing, Pitt, Notre Dame and Florida State have a 24-3-5 record as of Wednesday.Â
MEET THE CAPTAIN
• The Eagles are captained this season by graduate student Claire Mensi.
• Mensi played in 16 of 18 contests in 2022 while making seven starts ... the Katonah, N.Y. native scored two goals, including a game-winning goal.
• Prior to arriving on the Heights, Mensi played four seasons at Bucknell University where she was a two-year captain and helped lead the Bison to the 2021 Patriot League championship along with an NCAA Tournament berth.
• In addition to Mensi, Laura Gouvin, Emily Sapienza, Sonia Walk and Wiebke Willebrandt are a part of the team's Leadership Council.
NEW FACES
• The 2023 Boston College women's soccer roster features 11 players who were not on the 2022 roster, including nine freshmen.
• The Eagles have welcomed two transfers in Caroline Walbridge from Maryland and Aislin Streicek from Alabama.• Additionally, the Eagles have welcomed a new assistant coach in Stephanie Demake.
Scouting Notre Dame (7-1-3, 3-0-1 ACC)
The Fighting Irish are coming off a 3-0 win last weekend against Louisville. Kiki Van Zanten scored twice to pace the offense, while Meg Mrowicki scored the third goal. Van Zanten leads the team with 11 points (four goals, three assists. She is one of three players with Maddie Mercado (10 points) and Mrowick (10 points) to tally at least 10 points. Ashley Naylor has played in seven of 11 matches between the posts, boasting a 1.14 goals against average and 10 saves.Â
Scouting Florida State (8-0-1, 3-0-1 ACC)
The Seminoles defeating Miami in their previous outing, 2-0. Jordynn Dudley registered both goals for FSU. Florida State faces Louisville on Thursday before Sunday's matchup. She leads the team with seven scores and 17 points. Taylor Huff leads the way with seven helpers and Onyi Echegini has 14 points, which is second on the team. Cristina Rogue has started all nine matches with a 1.00 goals against average and 10 saves.Â

BC returns home next Saturday, Oct. 14 to play Louisville at 7 p.m.Â
