Eagles Fall in Five to No. 11 Georgia Tech

Volleyball loses fourth in a row with 3-2 decision to Yellow Jackets in Chestnut Hill.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College fell against No.11 Georgia Tech, 3-2, on Friday night inside the Margot Connell Rec Center. The Eagles fell in scores of 25-20, 19-25, 18-25, 25-18, and 9-15.
The Eagles started fast in set one taking an early 3-1 lead. The Yellow Jackets responded tying it up 12-12, a 4-0 run by the Eagles led by Katrina Jensen sealed the set for Boston College. The Eagles never lost the lead, dominating in the end of the set on a 6-2 run. The Eagles finished set one; 25-20. BC hit .515 tallying 18 of 33 kills, led by Jensen with five.
The Yellow Jackets responded on a 3-0 run to open set two. The Eagles were able to get within one three times, and tie it twice. Georgia Tech took set two; 25-19. The Yellow Jackets carried over the momentum into the third set, taking the set 25-18.
The Eagles took control early in the fourth set with a 5-1 advantage. BC was able to widen the lead 19-10 on a set of 3-0 runs. Jensen led with four kills, while Julia Haggerty tacked on two blocks.
Set five opened evenly matched as the lead was exchanged five times. The Yellow Jackets went on a 4-0 run to secure the match; 15-19.
Jensen led the Eagles in kills, with 13. Jensen hit .296 for the match. Halle Schroder, Alayna Crabtree, and Jenna Pollock all followed closely behind with 11, 10, and 10 respectively. The Eagles hit .242 on the night. BC totaled 58 digs on the night, led by Anna Murphy tacking on 21. Setters Grace Penn and Sophia Lambros added on 48 assists on the night, Penn leading with 26. Haggerty added on a team high six blocks, plus nine kills.
The Eagles fall to 14-11 overall and 3-8 in ACC play and return to action on Sunday, Oct. 29 at home against Clemson.
