Women's Soccer Draws to 1-1 Tie at Wake Forest
October 19, 2023 | Women's Soccer
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's soccer and Wake Forest ended in a 1-1 draw on Thursday evening in Spry Stadium.
The Eagles move to 3-9-4 and 0-6-2 in the ACC, while WF moves to 8-2-5 and 2-2-4 in the league.
BC struck first in the 19th minute of the contest as Emily Sapienza's perfect corner met Bella Douglas, whose header found Ella Richards for the score to give BC a 1-0 lead.
Boston College's defense held Wake Forest to only three shots in the opening 45, leading to a 1-0 lead at the half.
Wake Forest tied up the contest when Anna Swanson just slipped the shot into the net.
Neither team came up with a go-ahead score, as Wiebke Willebrandt made two crucial saves to keep the Demon Deacon offense at bay. Sydney Segalla's shot with 10 seconds left in the match went just to the right of the goal, which would have given BC the victory.
The Eagles return to action on Sunday at 2 p.m. against Virginia in Charlottesville.
