Garber Hits Game-Winner as No. 12 Eagles Prevail Over Northeastern

DEDHAM, Mass. – No. 12 Boston College (10-5, 1-3 ACC) started its week on the right foot, besting Northeastern (6-8, 2-2 CAA) in a tightly contested 4-3 bout on Tuesday afternoon.
The Eagles opened the first half firing on all cylinders, as Peyton Hale found the back of the net in the first five minutes of action off a penalty corner setup from Martina Giacchino and Margo Carlin. BC would tack on two more scores in the second quarter from the sticks of Kara Heck and Martina Giacchino to carry a 3-0 lead into the halftime break.
Northeastern stormed back in the second half, scoring three unanswered to tie the game at 3-3. Just when it seemed like momentum would carry the contest into extra time, forward Mia Garber redirected a penalty corner setup from Peyton Hale past the Huskies' keeper to take a 4-3 lead with 1:11 left in regulation. Northeastern would get one final attempt at an equalizer, but graduate student Caroline Kelly shut down their penalty corner possession to close out the victory for her sixth save of the game.
