
BC Set to Take on Hartford in Home Opener

After starting the season 6-0 the Eagles return to Chestnut Hills
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass – After another 3-0 weekend at the Bryant Invitational, Boston College Volleyball finally returns back to The Heights for their home opener at Conte Forum against Hartford.
The Eagles so far…
BC has started the season 6-0 with two straight 3-0 weekends at The Bearcat Classic and The Bryant Invitational. This past weekend in Smithfield, RI for the Bryant Invitational, the Eagles completed 3-0 sweeps of both Montana State and Harvard and defeated Bryant 3-1. Junior outside hitter Alayna Crabtree (Normal, Ill) was named Bryant Invitational MVP. Crabtree recorded 32 kills, five aces, 25 digs, and four total blocks while playing in all 10 possible sets in three matches. Junior setter Grace Penn (Manhattan Beach, Calif) and grad transfer middle blocker Kate Brennan (Endicott. N.Y) were also both named to the Bryant Invitational All-Tournament Team. Penn, who played in all 10 possible sets for the Eagles, tallied 63 assists, 21 digs and an ace and Brennan who played in all 10 sets as well, recorded 22 kills on a .648 hitting percentage, 10 digs, and 17 total blocks. Alayna Crabtree and Senior right side hitter Izzy Clavenna (Dallas, Texas) lead the team in kills through six games with 50 and 47 respectively while Kate Brennan leads the team with 28 total blocks. Grace Penn leads the team in total assists with 131 and Junior libero Anna Murphy (Zionsville, Ind) who has been an important defensive contributor for BC as well, leads the team in digs with 80.
Last time against Hartford…
Boston College's last matchup vs the Hawks came on August 24, 2018 in what was Head Coach Jason Kennedy's very first game in his BC career. The Eagles won that match 3-0.
The history…
Boston College and Hartford Volleyball have met 15 total times in their programs history with the Eagles getting the better of the matchup thus far at 10-5. BC has won the last eight in a row and will of course be looking to extend that streak on Wednesday.
Up next…
After their home opener on Wednesday, BC will head back on the road for another weekend tournament, this time for the URI Invitational in Kingston, RI. The Eagles are scheduled for matches against Long Island on Friday and Marist and Rhode Island on Saturday.
