
BC Falls to Virginia Tech on First Match of Road Trip

Blacksburg, VA – Boston College lost to Virginia Tech on Friday evening 3-0, the Eagles lost by scores of 25-27, 12-25, and 12-25. BC now moves to 13-4 on the season and 1-2 in the ACC while Virginia Tech improves to 9-5 overall and 2-1 in the ACC.Â
In set one, it looked like it really could have gone either way as it was a back and forth set to the very end and deuce at 24-24, Virginia Tech was able squeeze by after a 3-0 run to clinch after BC had taken a 25-24 lead.Â
After running away with set two, the Hokies came out in set three looking for a sweep, and they would go on to get it on the heels of a 7-1 run to clinch the set. Virginia Tech out hit Boston College an impressive .353 to .085 for the match.Â
For BC, Senior right side hitter Izzy Clavenna (Dallas, Texas) led the way on offense with eight kills. Junior setter Grace Penn dished out a team-high 18 assists and Junior libero Anna Murphy tallied 13 digs.Â
For Virginia Tech, Sydney Petersen finished with 11 kills on 19 attempts and Cara Lewis added six kills and four blocks as well.Â
Boston College will be back in action on Sunday at 1 p.m to close out their weekend road trip with a match against Wake Forest in Winston-Salem.Â
