Eagles stay perfect in the ACC as win streak extends to three
DURHAM, N.C. -- The No. 18 Boston College Eagles (5-4, 2-0), took down the No. 20 Duke Blue Devils (4-5, 0-2) on Friday night, extending their win streak to three with a 1-0 victory. The win pushes the Eagles to 2-0 in the ACC, with two quality wins over top-20 conference opponents.Â
Margo Carlin opened the scoring late in the second quarter. After inserting the penalty corner, Carlin controlled the ball after Martina Giacchnio's shot was deflected, and finished the job, elevating her shot up and over the goalie. Her second goal of the season was enough to be the difference in this one, as the Eagles would go on to lead the rest of the way.Â
Emily Gillespie continues to flourish in net, making her third straight start and improving to 3-0 on the season. The junior goalie had three saves on five shots, including a key stop late in the fourth off a Duke corner that maintained the Eagles' lead.Â
The Eagles will head home and rest up before hitting the road again next weekend, taking on Syracuse on Friday at 4:00.Â
