
BC Heads to North Carolina to Face #5 Duke, #3 UNC

The Eagles will face #5 Duke on Thursday night before taking on the #3 Tar Heels on Sunday afternoon.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College women's soccer team will head to the state of North Carolina for two ACC contests against two top-ranked teams this week, facing #5 Duke on Thursday night before taking on the #3 Tar Heels on Sunday afternoon.
Both games will air on ACC Network Extra.

A WIN ON THURSDAY WOULD . . .

ABOUT BOSTON COLLEGE
• Boston College enters Thursday night with a 4-2-3 overall record and an 0-1-0 mark in the ACC.
• The last time out on Friday afternoon in Newton, the Eagles had a five-game unbeaten streak snapped by #12 Florida State.
• BC's only other loss on the season came at the hands of reigning Big Ten champion Michigan, 1-0, on Aug. 25.
• Overall, six different Eagles have scored in Sam Smith (5), Emily Sapienza (4), Ella Richards (3), Andi Barth (2), Claire Mensi and Sydney Segalla.

ABOUT DUKE
• Duke topped Syracuse, 1-0, in its ACC opener on Friday to move to 6-2-0 overall on the season.
• Michelle Cooper leads the Blue Devils in points (13) and goals (5) while nine total players have at least one point.
• Kat Rader and Maggie Graham have three goals each, with Rader adding an assist for seven points.
• All six of Duke's game-winning goals have come from a different player.
• Ruthie Jones has played the majority of minutes in goal for Duke, going 6-2-0 while making 15 saves and posting a 1.17 goals against average, .625 save percentage and two solo shutouts.
• Duke was tabbed first in the ACC Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll.

• Boston College has a record of 4-12-3 in the all-time series with Duke ... the Eagles are 0-7-1 on the road against the Blue Devils.
• These two teams first met on Sept. 23, 1990 with Duke earning a 3-0 win.

• Boston College has a record of 1-21-0 in the all-time series against North Carolina.
• The squads first met in 1981, with the Tar Heels topping the Eagles, 8-1 ... the teams went on to meet three more times in the next eight years before a hiatus in the series until joining the ACC in 2005.
• The lone Eagles' win in the series came in 2010, with BC topping UNC, 3-2, in Chapel Hill ... a then fourth-ranked BC squad took down top-ranked UNC behind goals from Kristie Mewis, Alaina Beyar and Victoria DiMartino.
• Last year's meeting in Newton saw Sam Smith score in the 50th minute to give the Eagles a lead that would hold until the 88th when Julia Dorsey scored ... the Tar Heels then found the 97th minute game-winning goal in the second extra time.
• Eleven of the 22 meetings have been decided by one goal and six of the last 10 matches have been decided by one goal.
IT'S WORTH NOTING...
• The Eagles have out-cornered the opponent in five out of nine games of the season and 56-41 overall, including a season-high 12 against Holy Cross on Aug. 28.
• BC has out-scored opponents 17-14 and out-shot opponents 115-94 through the first nine games.
• The Eagles have registered at least three shots on goal in nine contests this season and at least six in four contests ... BC's season-high of shots was 23 at Northeastern on Aug. 21.
