
BC Sweeps Columbia To Close Out Red Storm Invitational

Move to 11-2 on the season as they now get ready for ACC play
QUEENS, N.Y – Boston College defeated Columbia on Saturday morning, the Eagles won 3-0 by scores of 25-19, 25-15, and 25-19.
Junior outside hitter Alayna Crabtree (Normal, Ill) once again led the team in kills with 14 on a .579 hitting percentage as she also added five digs, two blocks and two service aces. The two Senior outside hitters Izzy Clavenna (Dallas, Texas) and Silvia Ianeselli (Trento, Italy) got into their groove today as Clavenna went for 10 kills on a .529 hitting percentage and Ianeselli, who had one of her best matches so far this season posted eight kills, two digs, and three total blocks.
In set one, in what began as a back and forth set at a 10-10 tie, the Eagles then proceeded to go on a 9-2 run to give themselves some breathing room at 19-12. BC then managed to clinch the set with a 3-0 run and clutch kills from Alayna Crabtree and Sophomore middle blocker Jenna Pollock (St. Catharines, Ont).
After cruising to an easy set two win, BC was looking for a sweep to close out the weekend and they got it as they went on a 7-2 run to end the match. Junior setter Grace Penn (Manhattan Beach, Calif) finished with another 25+ assist outing while Sophia Lambros (Fullerton, Calif) dished out 19 as well.
Boston College will now turn their attention to conference play as they will head to Syracuse for match against the Orange on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
