Eagles Fall to No. 12 Seminoles in ACC Opener

The Eagles and Seminoles met on the Heights for the first time since 2018.
NEWTON, Mass. – The Boston College women's soccer team opened up its ACC slate on Friday afternoon, falling to the No. 12 Florida State Seminoles, 6-0, at the Newton Campus Soccer Field.
FSU struck twice early in the first half for a 2-0 lead and held off the Eagles' attempts, including Andi Barth's look across the goal line. The visiting Seminoles found a third goal 10 minutes in to the second half and then added three more scores before the end of the game.

- 2' | Onyi Echegini turned on the right edge of the box and curled a shot high to the far post.
- 12' | Jody Brown fed a ball across the middle of the field to the left side of the box and Echegini took a touch and slotted it home.
- 55' | Echegini took a ball from Clara Robbins on the left side of the box and slotted it on the ground inside the middle of the goal.
- 59' | Jenna Nighswonger sent in a corner kick that bounced straight off the far post and in.
- 75' | Sophia Nguyen took a shot from the left side of the field that curled in towards goal and deflected in.
- 84'| After a give-and-go inside the box, Kaitlyn Zipay slotted a shot home inside the right post.
- Florida State had the 24-6 lead in shots.
- The Seminoles had the 10-4 lead in corner kicks.
- Goalkeeper Wiebke Willebrandt made six saves while moving to 4-2-2 on the year … Eva Nahas made two saves in her second half appearance..
- Boston College is now 3-16-3 in the all-time series with Florida State.
- Sydney Segalla led the Eagles with two shots.
- Jordan Teguis made her collegiate debut as a substitute in the second half.
- The Eagles will now head to North Carolina two games, taking on Duke on Thursday, Sept. 22 and then North Carolina on Sunday, Sept. 25.
