
BC Gets Set for Red Storm Invitational

After starting 10-0, The Eagles head to Queens for matches against Middle Tennessee, St. John's and Columbia
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass – After another 3-0 weekend in Kingston, RI for the URI Invitational in which they defeated Long Island, Marist, and Rhode Island, Boston College heads to The Red Storm Invitational in Queens, N.Y hosted on the campus of St. Johns University. BC is scheduled for matches against Middle Tennessee at 9 a.m and St. Johns at 7 p.m on Friday and Columbia at 11 a.m on Saturday.
The Eagles so far…
BC Volleyball now sits at a 10-0 record on the season, which stands as their best start in program history, topping their previous best of 9-0 in 2018. Junior outside hitter Katrina Jensen (Temecula, Calif) had herself quite the week as she was named ACC Player of the Week and URI Invitational Tournament MVP this past weekend as well as she racked up 48 total kills, seven digs, and two blocks while playing in all 11 sets for the Eagles. Jensen leads the team in total kills on the season at 98. Her 30 kill performance against LIU ranks as the fifth best five set kill total in the country so far this season. Junior libero Anna Murphy (Zionsville, Ind.) was named to the URI Invitational All-Tournament Team as she recorded 20 digs while not giving up a single receiving error, 6 total assists, and an ace while playing in all 11 sets in three matches. Murphy leads the team in total digs on the season with 107 and boasts an impressive .974 receiving percentage with only .12 receiving errors per set. Junior outside hitter Alayna Crabtree (Normal,Ill) was also named to the URI Invitational All-Tournament Team as she tallied 31 kills, five aces, 11 digs, and three total blocks. Crabtree leads the team in service aces on the season with 15 and is second on the team in total kills on the season with 82. Junior setter Grace Penn has been the main catalyst for the Eagles' offense as she leads the team in total assists on the season with 228. Grad transfer middle blocker Kate Brennan (Endicott, N.Y) has been a force in the middle on both offense and defense as leads BC in total blocks on the season with 41 and is fourth on the team in kills on the season with 62.
The Matchups…
Middle Tennessee: Friday's match will mark the first ever matchup between the two schools. The Blue Raiders are 8-2 to begin the season and winners of their last five in a row.
St. John's: BC will take on St. John's for the 13th time in program history, the Eagles currently sit at 4-8 all-time against the Red Storm with the last matchup coming on November 18, 2004. Boston College won that match 3-1.
Columbia: Saturday's match will be the third meeting between Boston College and Columbia with the Eagles having won both of the previous matchups. The most recent match came on September 12, 2013 where BC won 3-2.

The Eagles are not only tops in the ACC record wise but have been dominating in many other key statistics as well that further paint a picture of just how they good they have been. They are second in the ACC in team hitting percentage, first in the ACC in in average kills per set as a team, first in assists per set and second in total assists on the season. BC also leads the conference in total blocks and second in blocks per set. Middle blocker Kate Brennan leads the ACC in hitting percentage (with a minimum of 3 attacks per match) at an impressive .500 rate and is first in the conference in total blocks on the season while Sophomore middle blocker Julia Haggerty (Lafayette, Calif) leads the conference in blocks per set.
