Eagles Sweep Again Against Binghamton

Boston College moves to 2-0 on season in second match of Bearcat Classic
Vestal, N.Y – Boston College Volleyball swept Binghamton on Saturday afternoon in second match of the Bearcat Classic. BC won by scores of 25-20, 25-18, and 25-17.
Sophomore outside hitter Nikki Steinheiser (Celina,TX) was a standout in this one, recording a team-high 10 kills, to go along with 11 digs and two blocks. Senior outside hitter Silvia Ianeselli (Treno, Italy) and Senior right side hitter Izzy Clavenna (Dallas, TX) each added 9 kills of their own as well. Clavenna also held it down on defense adding 4 blocks.
Junior setter Grace Penn (Manhatten Beach, CA) dished a team-high 23 assists and picked up three digs while Junior setter Sophia Lambros (Fullerton, CA) recorded 19 assists to her name as well.
In set one, things stayed close until The Eagles went on a quick 4-0 run, including back to back kills from middle blocker Kate Brennan (Endicott, N.Y) to give themselves some breathing room.
Boston College raced out to quick 6-0 lead in set two before a Binghamton rally to cut it to just a two point lead at 12-10. The Eagles were able to hold on and win set two after five points in six serves led by big plays from Nikki Steinheiser and Izzy Clavenna.
In set three, after a 5-5 tie to begin, BC was able to take control and get the sweep behind six points in seven serves with clutch kills by Silvia Ianselli and Freshman Audrey Della Vedova (San Clemente, CA).
BC Volleyball will play again on Saturday evening against Maryland Eastern Shore at 4:30 p.m.
