
BC Unbeaten in Bearcat Classic

Eagles win against UMES, move to 3-0 to begin season
Vestal, N.Y – Boston College beat Maryland Eastern Shore 3-1 on Saturday evening. The Eagles won by scores of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-19.
Senior right side hitter Izzy Clavenna (Dallas, TX) who was named Bearcat Classic All-Tournament led the way for BC with a team-high 12 kills, while Junior outside hitters Katrina Jensen (Temecula, CA) and Alayna Crabtree (Normal, Ill) each tallied 10 kills of their own. Clavenna also had an impressive .611 hitting percentage and Crabtree was everywhere all match with seven digs as well.
Junior libero Anna Murphy (Zionsville, IN) locked it down on defense for The Eagles with a team-high 20 digs. Sophomore setter Jane Petrie (San Diego, CA) and Junior setter Grace Penn (Manhatten Beach, CA) powered the BC offense with 24 and 23 assists respectively.
After cruising to a 25-16 win in set one, BC fell behind 12-5 in set two but rallied all the way back in what was a great comeback to to take a 23-20 lead, however The Eagles came up just short in a thrilling back and forth finish to set two.
BC responded quickly in set three racing out to a quick 15-7 lead, including a memorable back to back double block sequence from Kate Brennan (Endicott, N.Y) and Katrina Jensen. Brennan was named Bearcat Classic Tournament MVP.
In set four The Eagles asserted their dominance over Maryland Eastern Shore thanks in part to a five points in six serves run to make it 18-12 with big kills from Sophomore middle blockers Jenna Pollock (St.Catharines, Ont) and Julia Haggerty (Lafeyette, CA).
BC Volleyball returns to action next Friday at 4:00 PM against Montana State as they travel to Smithfield, RI for the Bryant Invitational.
