
Eagles Take Care of Business against Siena in Season Opener

Boston College gets the sweep to move to 1-0 on the season in first match of Bearcat Classic
Vestal, N.Y – Boston College volleyball swept Siena 3-0 on Friday night to begin the Bearcat Classic in the Eagles' season opener. BC won by scores of 25-17, 25-22 and 25-11.
Junior outside hitter Alayna Crabtree (Normal, Ill.) led the team with eight kills. Kate Brennan (Endicott, N.Y) and Izzy Clavenna (Dallas, TX) each added seven kills of their own. Brennan hit a team-high .667 while Clavenna added five digs.
Junior setter Grace Penn (Manhattan Beach, CA) recorded a team-high 22 assists and picked up five digs while Sophomore middle blocker Julia Haggerty (Lafayette, CA) tallied a team-high eight blocks and added seven kills of her own as well.
In set one, BC raced out to a quick 16-8 lead with key plays on a 6-0 run from Kate Brennan and Izzy Clavenna.
The two sides went back and forth early in set two. Boston College then went on a 5-0 run to pull away from a 12-12 tie with important kills from Julia Haggerty and an ace from Alayna Crabtree.
After taking the first two sets, early in set three, The Eagles took full control of the game and went on a 9-0 run to make the score 11-2.
Junior libero Bridget Green (New York, NY) held it down for the BC defense as she recorded a team-high nine digs while Junior libero Anna Murphy (Zionsville, Ind) added eight digs of her own as well.
Boston College is back in action on Saturday with matches against Binghamton at 1 p.m and Maryland Eastern Shore at 4:30 p.m .
