
Eagles Suffer Setback in ACC Championship to UNC

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Boston College lacrosse team fell to North Carolina, 16-9, in the ACC Championship on Saturday evening. 
Boston College will await its opponent for the NCAA Tournament, which starts next week.
Charlotte North led the team with three goals for a hat trick, tying Courtney Murphy's mark for the NCAA record of 341 goals. Cassidy Weeks and Caitlynn Mossman scored twice.Â
After UNC struck first, Mckenna Davis started a 3-0 run to give the Eagles a two-goal lead. Boston College would go into the second frame with a 3-2 edge.Â
North scored two of her goals in the second, one of which capped off back-to-back scores after Belle Smith found the back of the net. BC held UNC to four goals in the first half to go into the locker room with a 6-4 advantage.
However, the Tar Heels' offense came alive in the second half, outscoring BC in the final two periods, 12-3. UNC took a commanding lead in the third period by scoring seven goals to pull away to clinch the title.Â
Hollie Schleicher led the team with four ground balls, tallied one caused turnover, and five draw controls. North led the team with eight draw controls.
North, Schleicher and Smith were named to the ACC All-Tournament Team for their solid play in the tournament.Â
