Boccagno homers, BC takes advantage of Panther errors
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Boston College softball came back from down 2-0 in the sixth inning to top Pitt on Thursday evening.Â
Senior catcher Gianna Boccagno woke up the BC offense with a solo shot on the first pitch of the sixth inning. The Eagles took the lead later in the inning when Nicole Giery reached on an error that scored Ellie Mataya and Hannah Slike. Mataya picked up a RBI in the seventh inning on an infield single to cap off the scoring.Â
In the circle, Susannah Anderson earned her eighth win of the season with the complete game effort. She did not allow an earned run.
EDIT: BC (18-19, 4-12) and Pitt (13-20, 1-13) will now play a doubleheader on Friday due to weather in the forecast on Saturday. First pitch of game one will be at 3 p.m. Both games will be streamed on ACCNX.
