Baseball Hammers Holy Cross in Home Opener

The Eagles scored in each of the first six innings en route to a 17-2 win over the Crusaders.

BC scored in each of the first six innings, including four runs in both the first and second innings. Sophomore right fielder Cameron Leary (Bethpage, N.Y.) scored four runs and went 2-for-3 with a two-run triple and two walks. Sophomore first baseman Joe Vetrano (Shrub Oak, N.Y.) reached base in all five plate appearances; going 3-for-3 with three runs and two walks.

Graduate designated hitter Rafe Chaumette (Sugar Land, Texas) doubled three times in a 3-for-6 effort with two RBI. Junior third baseman Luke Gold (Ballston, N.Y.) added a 2-for-3 day with three runs and three RBI, while junior catcher Parker Landwehr (Baltimore, Md.) was 2-for-5 with three RBI.

Senior right-hander Mason Pelio (San Diego, Calif.) got the win in a one-inning start. He struck out two in a perfect frame. Freshman RHP Luke Delongchamp (Holden, Mass.) followed for two innings and gave up one run on two hits with two strikeouts.
