BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Boston College baseball team defeated Holy Cross, 17-2, in its home opener at the Harrington Athletics Village on Tuesday evening. The Eagles improved to 7-8, while the Crusaders dropped to 3-14.

BC scored in each of the first six innings, including four runs in both the first and second innings. Sophomore right fielder Cameron Leary (Bethpage, N.Y.) scored four runs and went 2-for-3 with a two-run triple and two walks. Sophomore first baseman Joe Vetrano (Shrub Oak, N.Y.) reached base in all five plate appearances; going 3-for-3 with three runs and two walks.

Graduate designated hitter Rafe Chaumette (Sugar Land, Texas) doubled three times in a 3-for-6 effort with two RBI. Junior third baseman Luke Gold (Ballston, N.Y.) added a 2-for-3 day with three runs and three RBI, while junior catcher Parker Landwehr (Baltimore, Md.) was 2-for-5 with three RBI.

Senior right-hander Mason Pelio (San Diego, Calif.) got the win in a one-inning start. He struck out two in a perfect frame. Freshman RHP Luke Delongchamp (Holden, Mass.) followed for two innings and gave up one run on two hits with two strikeouts.

·       The Eagles scored in each of the first six innings beginning with a two-run, bases-loaded single from Parker Landwehr.
·       Chaumette's second RBI-double of the game made it 7-0 in the second inning.
·       Gold answered the first Crusader run of the day with a RBI-double in the third.
·       Leary drove in a pair with a fifth-inning triple over the left fielder.

·       Chaumette became the first Eagle to hit three doubles in a game since Johnny Adams against Tulane at the Oxford Regional (6/6/16).
·       Gold recorded his fourth multi-RBI game of the season and 21^st of his career.
·       Travis Lane made his first appearance on the mound since facing UNC at the ACC Championship (5/25/19).
·       Leary scored a career-high four runs.
