Boston College Trio Named Hockey East All-Stars
March 11, 2022 | Men's Hockey
AMESBURY, Mass. – A trio of Boston College seniors were named to the annual Hockey East All-Star Teams on Friday. Forward Jack McBain was selected to the Second Team, defenseman Jack St. Ivany made the Third Team, and forward Marc McLaughlin appeared as an Honorable Mention selection. The trio has combined for 44 goals and 87 points this season.
Despite missing 14 games due to injury and his selection to Team Canada for the Olympic Games, McBain ranks third in Hockey East with 19 goals and leads the league in points per game (1.39) with 32 in 23 contests. The assistant captain is currently riding a career-best seven-game goal scoring streak and has more than tripled his previous career-high in goals (6). McBain has netted six goals in five games since returning from Beijing and 10 goals in his last seven games dating back to Dartmouth's Ledyard Classic, of which he was named the MVP.
St. Ivany has been one of the best all-around defensemen in college hockey this season, ranking seventh among Hockey East defensemen in points per game. The Hobey Baker nominee has posted career-highs this season with 20 assists and 24 points, eclipsing his career-high of 16 points as a sophomore at Yale in 2019-20. St. Ivany has at least one point in 19 of his 35 contests this season and has earned just 12 penalty minutes combined over the last two seasons at Boston College.
McLaughlin ranks second in Hockey East and sixth nationally in goals per game this season with a career-high 21 goals to lead the team. The senior captain is 11th in the country with a team-high seven power play goals. McLaughlin's first of two goals in the Hockey East Opening Round on Wednesday made him BC's first 20-goal scorer since former captain David Cotton three seasons ago. After netting nine goals in the first 73 games of his career, McLaughlin has exploded for 31 goals in his last 55 contests.
Boston College faces top-seed Northeastern on Saturday night in the Hockey East Quarterfinal at Matthews Arena. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on NESNplus.
