About the Eagles
Last Time Out
BC pushed No. 5 NC State to the brink in an overtime setback last Thursday, 85-78. Cameron Swartz scored a game-high 24 points against the Wolfpack on 10-of-19 shooting from the field and grabbed six rebounds. The 24 points are the most scored by an individual player against NC State during conference play. Taylor Soule collected her second double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 boards. Ally VanTimmeren scored 10 points, including the game-tying basket to send the game into overtime.Â
A Win WouldÂ
- Improve the Eagles' record to 16-9.Â
- Give the Eagles a 7-7 mark in ACC play.Â
- Earn a season sweep against Pitt.Â
- Snap a two-game losing streak.Â
- Record a seventh win in the past eight meetings against Pitt.Â
By the NumbersÂ
2 - Maria Gakdeng is one of two, true freshmen in the country to post a game with at least five points, 15 rebounds and five blocks.Â
3 -Â Makayla Dickens is one of three players in the country to post at least 1,000 points, 400 rebounds, 300 assists and 200 3-pointers in their career.Â
15 - Soule and Swartz are the only duo in the ACC to average at least 15 points per game.Â
24 - The 24 points by Swartz are the most points scored by an individual player against NC State in the league.Â
51 - The 51 blocks by Gakdeng are the most by a player since Jamie Cournoyer in 2000-01. She posted 51 blocks in back-to-back seasons.Â
What to Watch For
- Watch if the Eagles can produce a balanced-scoring attack, as four players scored in double figures and assisted on 20 of 28 baskets in the first matchup against Pitt.
- Including a 14-point outing against Pitt earlier this season, Dickens is averaging 13.5 points per game on 45.4 percent shooting from the field and 46.4 percent shooting from deep in six career games. See if the senior can continue her solid play against Pitt.
- Watch if the Eagles can come away with second-chance opportunities as Pitt is 1-6 this season when allowing more than 15 offensive rebounds. Boston College recorded 17 in the first meeting.
- See if the defense can get back on track against Pitt. Over the last five games (1-4), the Eagles' defensive rating (points allowed per 100 possessions) is at 100.
- Watch if the Eagles can get their 3-point attack going, as Pitt is allowing 7.2 3-pointers per game on the road. The Panthers have allowed at least 10 3-pointers in three road games.
