February 12, 2022 | Softball
Eagles beat Kent State, fall to Texas
FORT MYERS, Fla. – Boston College senior pitcher Peyton Schnackenberg struck out five in her six-plus innings of work as the Eagles picked up their second win of the season in game one of a doubleheader.
Senior infielder Kennedy Labshere got the scoring going for the Eags with a two-run single in the top of the second. The Eagles scored again in the fourth and fifth innings with RBI singles from freshman Darien McDonough and sophomore Nicole Giery.
Kent State scratched two runs across in the bottom of the third on an Eagles throwing error. Their final run came in the bottom of the seventh. Susannah Anderson came in to relieve Schnackenberg with no outs and picked up the save.Â
In game two, Anderson started in the circle for BC against the Texas Longhorns going 4.0+ innings pitched, allowing six earned runs, and striking out four.Â
The Eagles were held hitless through six innings until Hannah Slike led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a double to the warning track in center field.
BC plays another double header tomorrow, taking on Clemson at 9:30 a.m. in a non-conference ACC matchup, and host FGCU at 2:00 p.m.
