Eagles Roll Past No. 4 Northwestern

North Leads Team with Seven Goals
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College lacrosse team got off to a hot start and never looked back in an 18-9 victory over No. 4 Northwestern on Saturday afternoon at Fish Field House.
The top-ranked Eagles start the season 1-0, earning a 34th straight home win dating back to the 2017 campaign. The Wildcats fall to 0-1 on the season.Â
Seven different players scored for the Eagles, while Charlotte North registered a staggering seven goals and tallied one assist. She was one of three Eagles who turned in hat tricks on the afternoon.Â
Caitlynn Mossman scored three times and led BC with a pair of helpers, and Belle Smith also registered a hat trick in the victory. Annie Walsh got in on the action with a pair of scores.Â
BC started out of the gate with Mossman scoring the first two goals in the first 1:35 of the matchup. The senior scored half of the Eagles' six goals in the frame, leading to a five-score lead going into the second period.Â
Northwestern outscored the Eagles, 3-2, which sliced the gap to an 8-4 lead in BC's favor. Scoring for Boston College was North and Kayla Martello, who found the back of the net with 12 seconds left in the half.Â
North dominated the third and fourth periods, where she scored five times. Northwestern sliced the gap to three before BC tacked on three straight goals to take a 12-6 lead.
The Eagles ran away with the contest in the final quarter, where they outscored their foe, 8-3. Cassidy Weeks and Jenn Medjid both netted their lone goal in the fourth quarter.Â
Andrea Reynolds and Mckenna Davis recorded assists in the victory. Rachel Hall started at goalkeeper, making eight stops. She helped the defense earn a 32nd straight win when holding an opponent below 10 goals.Â
BC will travel to Amherst to face No. 21 UMass on Wednesday at 12 p.m.Â
