Five Players Scored in Double Figures; Mair With a Double-Double
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's basketball received an early Christmas present with a dominating 86-35 victory over Central Connecticut State on Thursday afternoon in Conte Forum.Â
The Eagles are now 11-4 on the season after their sixth win in the last seven games. Central Connecticut State falls to 3-8 on the season.Â
All nine players who saw action scored, while all five starters scored in double figures. JoJo Lacey paced the offense with a game-high 18 points on an efficient 8-of-15 shooting, and she grabbed six rebounds.Â
Taina Mair recorded her third double-double of the season with 15 points, a game-best 11 assists and totaled five boards.Â
Dontavia Waggoner was a rebound shy of a double-double, as she recorded 14 points with nine off the glass. Maria Gakdeng scored 12 points, and Andrea Daley tallied 11 points and almost reached a double-double with eight rebounds.Â
It was all Eagles from the start, where they started the game on a 21-4 run after hitting nine of their first 14 shots and never looked back.Â
Boston College led by double digits the rest of the way while shooting a season-high 53.6 percent from the field and dominated the paint with 58 points. The 20 assists is a season best as well.Â
The Eagles held the Blue Devils to just 25.5 percent shooting from the field and forced 24 turnovers. BC's defense saved its best for last by holding CCSU to just three points in the final quarter.Â
BC returns to action on New Year's Day when it faces No. 5 Notre Dame at 12 p.m. in South Bend.Â
