Autumn Littlefield and Milagros Arteta find the net in postseason tilt
DURHAM, N.C. — The No. 4 seed Boston College Eagles fell to the No. 5 seed Syracuse Orange in the Quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament, by a score of 6-2 on Tuesday afternoon.Â
The Eagles opened the scoring just five minutes into the game, with Autumn Littlefield cleaning up a rebound from Mia Garber's shot for her first goal of the year. The Orange answered later in the opening period, and eventually went up 2-1 in the second period after a deflection in front of the net beat Emily Gillespie in goal.
BC responded in fashion, forcing a turnover and working the ball all the way down the field, where Milagros Arteta beat the Syracuse goalie five-hole for her second goal of the season, tying the game with four minutes left in the half.
Syracuse converted a corner chance to go up 3-2 at halftime. The Orange extended their lead off a fast break opportunity midway through the third period to go up 4-2.
Peyton Hale had a chance on one of her signature corner looks at the end of the third period, yet it was saved.
The Orange added two late in the fourth to go on to win 6-2.Â
