Eagles will return home to face UNC this Friday
ALBANY, N.Y. -- The No. 16 Boston College Eagles (5-6, 2-1) rallied to come back from a 2-0 deficit, tying the game at three before falling to Albany (8-3, 2-1) in the waning seconds of double overtime, 4-3.
The Danes jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first quarter before Eva Kluskens got the Eagles on the board early in the second half, with her second goal of the year. Albany responded to take a 3-1 lead, but just 25 seconds later, Martina Giacchino scored her second of the year, getting the point right back. The Eagles defense held for the rest of regulation, and Peyton Hale tied the game on a penalty stroke in the fourth quarter, her team-leading fifth goal of the season.Â
After nearly two full overtime periods of scoreless play, Albany netted the game-winner in the final moments of double overtime.Â
The Eagles will resume conference play this Friday, hosting the No. 1 North Carolina Tar Heels at 4:00 at the Newton Field Hockey Complex.Â
