October 16, 2022 | Field Hockey
BC will return home for a two-game homestand starting Friday
STORRS, CT. -- The No. 19 Boston College Eagles (6-8, 2-2) fell to the No. 13 UConn Huskies (10-4, 4-1) in a shootout on Sunday afternoon, after battling to a 1-1 draw after regulation and two full overtime periods.Â
After a scoreless opening frame, the Huskies struck first in the second period, converting on a transition opportunity. Margo Carlin knotted the game at one later in the second quarter, receiving a beautiful feed from Olivia Hahn and Milagros Arteta, and converting on a reverse chip for her third goal of the season. The second half came and went without any score changes.Â
It remained 1-1 through two overtime periods, and the Eagles faced their second shootout of the season after winning their first at Penn. Milagros Arteta beat the goalie on one of her patented spin moves, but it wasn't enough as the Huskies prevailed in penalty strokes.Â
The Eagles will return home to host Wake Forest this Friday and Boston University this Sunday, their last two home games of the regular season.Â
