Late Surge Pushes Wake Forest Over BC

Eagles will face BU in final regular season home game on Sunday
NEWTON, Mass. -- The No. 21 Boston College Eagles (6-9, 2-3) fell to the No. 12 Wake Forest Demon Deacons (12-4, 4-1) on Friday night, dropping their penultimate conference game 4-2 after a late push from Wake Forest.Â
The Demon Deacons opened the scoring five minutes into the game, and the score held at 1-0 going into the second quarter. The next two goals belonged to the Eagles, with senior Milagros Arteta scoring her first goal of the season after cleaning up a deflection off a penalty corner. Minutes later, senior Kendall Hanlon, who scored her first career goal last time out, doubled her career output today with a great finish off a better feed from Victoria Arra.Â
Heading to the break tied at 2-2, the Demon Deacons pulled away in the second half, eventually taking it 4-2. Former Eagle Sky Caron, in her graduate season at Wake Forest, was one of the three scorers for the visitors.Â
The Eagles will host Boston University on Sunday before closing out the regular season next week, on the road at Louisville.Â
