
Swartz Catches Fire, Leads BC to ACC Road Win Versus Clemson

The Senior Guard Tied Single-Game School Record for Points
CLEMSON, S.C. - Senior guard Cameron Swartz tied the single-game school record with a personal-high 39 points to lead the Boston College women's basketball team to an 80-74 road win over Clemson on Sunday afternoon.Â
The Eagles improve to 11-4 and 2-2 in the ACC, earning its first road win in league action. Clemson falls to 6-9 and 0-4 in league play.Â
Swartz couldn't be stopped all afternoon, shooting 14-of-20 from the field, 4-of-7 from 3-point range, and hit all seven of her free throws. The 14 field goals made are tied for the second-most in a single game as well. She tied a personal high with nine rebounds.Â
Taylor Soule scored 13 points, grabbed six rebounds, and dished out a pair of assists. Makayla Dickens scored 12 and led the team with five helpers.Â
After taking a 17-13 advantage going into the second period, BC stretched the lead to 35-25 following a Dickens trifecta. The Eagles went into the break with a 40-31 edge.Â
The Tigers scored the first four points of the second half before Swartz and Soule responded with six straight points to give BC its largest lead of the game at 11, 46-35.Â
Clemson sliced the gap to single digits before the trio of Maria Gakdeng, Swartz, and Soule hit seven straight shots late in the third and early into the fourth that gave BC a 67-57 lead.Â
Clemson again got to within striking distance, cutting the lead to six midway through the fourth. However, Swartz and Dickens scored on back-to-back possessions to help the Eagles pull away for their third straight win in the series.Â
Gakdeng scored seven of her nine points in the second half, grabbed eight rebounds, and blocked a personal-high five shots.Â
The Eagles tied a season-high with 18 free throws made on the road, shooting 81.8 percent from the charity stripe.Â
BC returns to action on Thursday in a road matchup against Pittsburgh at 6 p.m.Â
