
Eagles Continue Streak With Fourth Straight Win

PITTSBURGHÂ - The Boston College women's basketball team earned a 75-64 win over Pitt on Thursday evening at the Petersen Events Center.Â
The Eagles improve to 12-4 and 3-2 in the ACC while tying a season long with four straight wins. Pittsburgh falls to 9-7 and 0-5 in the league.Â
Four players scored in double figures, with three Eagles scoring 14 points apiece. Maria Gakdeng scored 10 of her 14 points in the second half, shooting 7-of-8 from the field and tying a career-high with five blocks.Â
Cameron Swartz continued her consistent play with 14 points on six field goals, and Makayla Dickens turned in an all-around effort with 14 points, six rebounds, and five assists.Â
BC got off to a slow start on offense before ending the first quarter hitting three trifectas during a 5-of-6 stretch that led to a 21-16 lead going into the second period.Â
A dominating second quarter helped the Eagles take command of the contest. Gakdeng and Marnelle Garraud ( started the period with an 8-0 surge to stretch the advantage to double digits. BC's defense held the Pitt offense to just nine points and 2-of-9 shooting in the frame en route to taking a 38-25 edge at the break.Â
BC hit seven of its eight 3-pointers in the opening half and made 12 of its final 21 shot attempts after starting the game 1-of-9.Â
A quick five points by the Panthers to start the second half sliced the gap to single digits. Swartz and Gakdeng put any hopes of Pitt drawing closer as the duo scored all 10 points during a 10-2 run to push the lead to 16.Â
The Eagles were never threatened the rest of the game, growing the lead to 21 late in the fourth before clinching the victory in the end. It's the first time this season the Eagles have won back-to-back road games.Â
Taylor Soule rounded out the offense with 12 points and dished out a personal-high six helpers. Garraud grabbed a team and season-high seven rebounds on top of eight points.Â
The Eagles return to action on Sunday against the No.2/3 Louisville at 12 p.m. in Conte Forum.Â
