No. 18 Eagles Return to League Play Against UConn on the Heights

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – 18th-ranked Boston College returns to Hockey East play on Saturday afternoon with a key home matchup against UConn at Kelley Rink on NESNplus at 4 p.m. Radio coverage begins at 3:45 p.m. on WEEI 850 AM and BCEagles.com.
Boston College enters the 2022 portion of its schedule at 10-5-3 overall and 5-3-2 in Hockey East play, while the Huskies come in at 8-7-0 (5-4-0 HEA). BC is unbeaten in its last six games (4-0-2) and is 5-1-2 in its last eight overall.
SERIES HISTORY
• Saturday will mark the 20th all-time meeting in the series, which BC leads 14-3-2
• The Eagles are undefeated all-time against UConn in Chestnut Hill (7-0-2)
• BC edged UConn 2-1 at the XL Center in Hartford on Nov. 12, 2021 as Jack McBain wristed a shot high glove side to beat Darion Hanson with 1:22 left in the third period
• The teams complete their three-game regular season series at Conte Forum on Friday, Feb. 11

• Boston College won the Ledyard Classic title for the third time before New Year's with wins over Mercyhurst and the host Dartmouth at Thompson Arena in the 32nd annual tournament:
Dec. 30 | Boston College 4, Mercyhurst 2
• BC scored four straight goals in a 4-2 victory over Mercyhurst on Dec. 30 to open the tournament, marking Jerry York's 650th win in 28 seasons as head coach at Boston College
• Senior assistant captain Jack McBain had a pair of goals, including a shorthanded goal and a power play goal, to give the senior 11 on the season; Nikita Nesterenko posted a pair of assists
• Rookie Matt Argentina picked up his second goal of the season and classmate Aidan Hreschuk registered his first collegiate goal for the fourth and final tally
Dec. 31 | Boston College 6, Dartmouth 1
• On New Year's Eve, BC dominated from start to finish and cruised to a 6-1 victory over Dartmouth
• McBain scored twice for the second straight night and was named the Tournament MVP
• Henry Wilder won the Top Goalie Award, picking up his second straight victory in net
• BC also received goals from Marc McLaughlin, Mike Posma, Marshall Warren and Jack St. Ivany
• Drew Helleson registered a game-high three assists and was named to the All-Tournament Team with McLaughlin and St. Ivany
MONTHLY AWARDS
• Marc McLaughlin was named the Hockey East Player of the Month for December, while classmate Jack St. Ivany earned the Hockey East Defender of the Month Award
• McLaughlin led the team with six points in four December games with four goals and two assists; he posted a plus-6 rating and was tied for second on the team with 12 shots on goal
• McLaughlin was named to the Ledyard Classic All-Tournament Team, scoring the game-winning goal against Dartmouth in the title game on New Year's Eve
• St. Ivany registered four points on a goal and three assists in four games, helping the Eagles to an unbeaten December (3-0-1)
• He closed the month with a plus-6 rating while blocking seven shots to help anchor the BC defense and was named to the Ledyard Classic All-Tournament Team
WEEKLY AWARDS
• Jack McBain (Player of the Week) and Henry Wilder (Goaltender of the Week) earned weekly awards from Hockey East following their performances to close out 2021 at the Ledyard Classic
• McBain was named the MVP of the Ledyard Classic after scoring twice in each of Boston College's tournament wins over Mercyhurst and Dartmouth
• The forward increased his goal total to 13 and registered his third and fourth multi-goal efforts of the season, establishing a new career-high in scoring with 24 points
• Wilder was honored as the Top Goalie of the Ledyard Classic and named to the All-Tournament Team, picking up a pair of victories with only three goals allowed in the entire tournament
• He stopped 54 of the 57 shots faced at Thompson Arena for a .947 save percentage and pushed his record to 3-1-0 in four starts this season
SENIOR CLASS
• Boston College's five-member senior class, comprised of four forwards and a defenseman, has combined for 38 goals and 75 points through 18 games (4.2 per game)
• Marc McLaughlin and Jack McBain are tied for first in Hockey East and fourth nationally in goals per game, while Patrick Giles sits 10th overall in the league; the trio has combined for 34 goals
• Overall, 38 of the team's 66 goals this season have been scored by seniors (57.5%)
• McLaughlin and McBain have also combined for 10 of BC's 11 power play goals
• Jack St. Ivany leads all Hockey East defensemen in assists, ranks second in points per game, and is tied for first overall among all skaters with a +17 rating
• Forward Casey Carreau has collected his first three points of the season in the last six games
