Eagles Fall to No. 14/17 Georgia Tech

ATLANTA - The Boston College women's basketball team suffered a 68-49 defeat to No. 14/17 Georgia Tech on Thursday evening in McCamish Pavilion.Â
BC falls to 14-6 and 5-4 in ACC play, while the Yellow Jackets are now 16-4 and 7-2 in league action.Â
Cameron Swartz led three players in double figures with 14 points and grabbed four rebounds. Taylor Soule scored 11 and pulled five off the glass. Marnelle Garraud chipped in with 10 points, and Ally VanTimmeren pulled down a team-high seven boards on top of eight points.
GT showed why it's the top defensive team in the country, holding the Eagles to 49 points and just over 30 percent shooting from the field.Â
BC sliced the gap to one, 12-11, early in the contest after VanTimmeren hit a trifecta before GT went on a 10-2 run to go into the second period with a 21-14 edge.Â
The second quarter set the tone for the rest of the contest, as the Yellow Jackets held BC to six points and three baskets in the second quarter. GT pulled away for the win after going into the second half with a 35-20 lead.Â
The Eagles will look to even up the week with a 2 p.m. Sunday contest against No. 18/20 Notre Dame in South Bend.Â
