
Jack McBain Named to Canadian Winter Olympic Team

CALGARY – Senior assistant captain Jack McBain was officially named to Canada's Olympic Men's Hockey Team on Tuesday morning. McBain will become the first Eagle to compete for Team Canada at the Winter Olympics next month in Beijing, China.

McBain is among 21 first-time Olympians on Canada's 25-man roster. The forward has posted 13 goals and 11 assists in 18 games this season to lead Hockey East in points per game. He was named the MVP of the Ledyard Classic before New Year's, scoring twice in each Boston College win over Mercyhurst and Dartmouth.

Team Canada will gather in Davos, Switzerland for an eight-day training camp from Jan. 25-Feb. 1 and will play a pre-tournament game against the Swiss on Feb. 1 before travelling to Beijing. Canada will also play a pre-tournament game against the United States on Feb. 7 at the National Indoor Stadium in Beijing.

The Canadians open the preliminary round against Germany on Thursday, Feb. 10 at 8:10 a.m. ET. McBain will then face BC teammates Marc McLaughlin and Drew Helleson of Team USA on Friday, Feb. 11 at 11:10 p.m. ET. The prelims conclude for Canada against China on Sunday, Feb. 13 at 8:10 a.m. ET.
