Eagles take 11-4 record on the road following an ACC-opening win over Syracuse.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boston College volleyball is on the road at Duke on Friday, Sept. 24. The match is set for 7 p.m. from Cameron Indoor Stadium on ACCNX.
BC is 11-4 overall after an 8-0 start to the season; one win shy of the program's best start to a season of 9-0 from head coach Jason Kennedy's first season in 2018. With the Eagles' 3-1 win over Fordham (9/11), Kennedy became the fastest BC coach to 50 career wins. Boston College picked up a 3-1, ACC-opening win over Syracuse on Wednesday night behind career-high 21 kills from graduate outside hitter and captain Clare Naughton. She leads the BC attack with 3.71 kills per set on a .256 hitting percentage. She has recorded 14 or more kills in nine matches this season. Graduate middle blocker Amaka Chukwujekwu is hitting a team-high .369 with 2.05 kills and 1.02 blocks per set. In the Boston College offense, sophomore setters Sophia Lambros and Grace Penn average 5.24 and 5.02 assists per set, respectively.

Clare Naughton put down 21 kills against Syracuse (9/22), including 18 in the first three sets, to push her career total to 974. She is 15 kills behind former teammate Cat Balido (2016-19) for 10th all-time at BC. Naughton is also aiming to become just the 10th player in program history to reach the 1,000-kill mark. The last to do so was Katty Workman (2012-15), the program's all-time leader at 1,689.
Maki Blocks...
Amaka Chukwujekwu started the season fourth all-time in total blocks at BC and has since moved into second with 418. She trails Kristen Roberts (1992-95) at 451 for the program record. Chukwujekwu entered the season tied for the BC record in block assists at 308 with Krystie Higgins (2009-12) and is now up to 353. Her 65 solo blocks are are sixth all-time.
Double-Double Machine...
Clare Naughton recorded four consecutive double-doubles beginning against Northeastern (9/7) and through the Jack Kaiser Classic at St. John's. She has totaled five double-doubles on the season, matching her total from the 2020-21 season, and 13 for her career.
ACC Openers...
Since joining the league, BC is 6-11 all-time in ACC-opening matches. The Eagles have won three of their last four conference openers; a 3-1 win over Syracuse (2021), 3-1 win at Clemson (2019) and home sweep of Clemson (2018). BC is 7-10 all-time in ACC home openers. BC won three consecutive ACC home openers between 2017-19; starting with a 3-1 win over Georgia Tech in 2017.
