
#12 Gamecocks Hold Off Eagles on the Road

South Carolina used a second-half goal to pick up the 1-0 win.
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Boston College women's soccer team went toe to toe with #12 South Carolina on Thursday night but ultimately fell, 1-0, at Stone Stadium.
After a scoreless first half, the Gamecocks finally broke the tie with a goal in the 73rd minute from Payton Patrick. The Eagles pushed for an equalizer but the scoreline would hold.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- 73' | South Carolina sent in a corner to the far post, with the service being headed back towards the center, and Payton Patrick was able to finish the loose ball inside the right post.
- Boston College is now 0-1-0 all-time against South Carolina … the Eagles have a mark of 1-3-0 all-time against current SEC schools.
- Wiebke Willebrandt made a season-high six saves for the Eagles.
- South Carolina had a 21-5 lead in shots on goal and an 8-3 lead in corners.
- This marked the first time this season that the Eagles were held off the scoreboard.
- The Eagles drew the Gamecocks in to three offside whistles.
- Linda Boama had her goal scoring streak snapped at four games.
- Boama led BC on the night with two shots, with both landing on target … Jenna Bike, Sonia Walk and Sam Smith registered one shot apiece.
- The Eagles will next head to Kennesaw State to square off against the Owls at noon on Sunday, Sept. 5.
- BC will close out the three-game road slate with a match at Harvard at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 9.
