Eagles Post 3-0 Win Over Quinnipiac In Season Opener

Junior from Argentina tallies two goals in lidlifter for the Eagles
NEWTON, Mass. — Milagros Arteta tallied two goals and Sarah Johnson added another as No. 7 Boston College opened its 2021 field hockey campaign with a 3-0 home victory over Quinnipiac.
Emily Gillespie earned the shutout in goal for the Eagles, stopping four shots that came her way.
Arteta got the Eagles on the scoreboard in the first quarter (8:22), firing a low shot past Bobcats' goalie Nina Santore, making it 1-0. BC would take that one-goal advantage into the halftime break.
The junior from Cordoba, Argentina would strike again in the third quarter (43:54), taking a 45-yard long entry pass from the stick of Fusine Govaert before turning and firing one past Santore to make it 2-0.
Johnson's goal came in the 59th minute, finishing off a rebound off a shot at the top of the circle by Govaert.
For the game, BC outshot Quinnipiac, 19-6, and held a 7-1 advantage in penalty corners.
Boston College will host Maine on Saturday, Aug. 28 at 1 p.m. at the Field Hockey Complex.
