BC Bests BU in Battle of Comm Ave

The Eagles team earned a 3-1 win over the Terriers in the Battle of Comm Ave on Thursday night.
NEWTON, Mass. – The Boston College women's soccer team earned a 3-1 win over Boston University in the Battle of Comm Ave on Thursday night at the Newton Campus Soccer Field.

The Eagles scored twice in the first half and once in the second en route to the non-conference win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- 24' |Â Emily Knous, deep on the right flank, sent a ball in to the box and Samantha Agresti touched it down and then finished it to the far left post.
- 29' | From deep in the BC defensive third, Haley Thomas sent a long ball over the top and Linda Boama ran on to it, past the defenders, and finished it high past the BU goalkeeper with a right-footed shot.
- 49' | Jenna Bike got the ball about 35 yards out from goal and then dribbled in, evading three defenders before sending a shot back across her body, off the right post and in.
- 81' | A Jenna Oldham free kick from 20 yards out found the head of Margaret Berry in the box for a finish past the goalkeeper.
- Boston College is now 23-5-1 all-time against Boston University … this marked the 26th meeting between the two teams as varsity clubs, with BC now sitting 20-5-1 in those contests … this was BC's sixth consecutive win in the series.
- Linda Boama extended her goal-scoring streak to three games … she now has a team-leading nine points on four goals and one assist … her goal marked her second game-winning goal of the season.
- Haley Thomas picked up her first assist as an Eagle … it was the fourth assist of her collegiate career.
- Jenna Bike notched her first goal of the season.
- Samantha Agresti scored the second goal of her career.
- Wiebke Willebrandt made four saves for the third consecutive game to move to 3-0-0 on the year.
- BC had the 22-14 lead in shots … BU had the 7-5 edge in corners.
- BC will close out its three-game homestand with a 1 p.m. game against UConn on Sunday, Aug. 29 at the Newton Campus Soccer Field.
