CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Head coach Earl Grant announced that T.J. Bickerstaff has committed to Boston College and will continue his academic and athletic endeavors at Boston College.
Bickerstaff, a 6-9, 210 lb. forward originally from Atlanta, will have three seasons of eligibility remaining after transferring from Drexel.
"T.J. comes in with a lot of experience under his belt. He is a multi-dimensional player because of his wide array of skill sets," Grant said. "He's very good at attacking the basket and is efficient in the paint. He's a really good ball handler and passer for his size. His athleticism and versatility will bring great value to our program. We are extremely excited to have him join our program."
This past season at Drexel, the athletic wing started each of the 20 games in which he appeared, averaging 10.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. He connected on better than 51% from the floor on the season - including close to 60% from inside the arc - as a sophomore in 2020-21. Over the final three games of the regular season, Bickerstaff averaged 17.3 points , 5.3 boards, and 3.3 assists - leading the Dragons to the CAA Tournament title and into the field of the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
He scored in double figures on 12 occasions in 2020-21, including a career-high 19 points to go with five rebounds and two assists in Drexel's season-opener at Pittsburgh. He also added 18 points in a pair of games at Hofstra in early February and pulled down a career-best 11 rebounds against Northeastern in the semifinals of the CAA Tournament in March.
As a freshman in 2019-20, Bickerstaff appeared in all 33 games for the Dragons, averaging close to 5.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per outing. He is a career 83.2% shooter from the foul line (104-125).
Bickerstaff comes from a well-known basketball family. His uncle J.B is the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers and his grandfather Bernie was a long-time head coach and front office executive in the NBA.
