Spencer Knight to Make NHL Debut for Florida Panthers

SUNRISE, Fla. – Spencer Knight is expected to make his National Hockey League debut tonight as the starting goaltender for the Florida Panthers against the Columbus Blue Jackets at the BB&T Center.

Knight will become the 77th former Boston College men's hockey player to appear in the NHL and the seventh goalie (Scott Clemmenson, Thatcher Demko, Scott Gordon, David Littman, Cory Schneider and Paul Skidmore).

Knight was named a First Team All-American following his sophomore season. In addition to being named the Hockey East Player of the Year, he was a Top-10 Finalist for the Hobey Baker Award and a Top-3 Finalist for the Mike Richter Award.

The Darien, Connecticut native was fifth in the country this season with a .932 save percentage and was tied for fourth in winning percentage (.786).

Knight closed his BC career with a 39-12-3 (.750) record in 54 starts with a 2.05 GAA, .931 SV% and eight shutouts, which is tied for fifth all-time in program history.
