Top-5 Matchup as No. 5 Eagles Face No. 4 Notre Dame

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The No. 5 Boston College lacrosse team will take on No. 4 Notre Dame in a top-5 matchup inside Alumni Stadium for a pair of games this week. The Eagles will take on the Fighting Irish on Thursday, April 15 at 5 p.m. on ACC Network and Saturday, April 17 at 11 a.m. on ACC Network Extra.
SERIES HISTORY
The series between BC and Notre Dame is tied at 8-8 with a goal differential of 181-175 in favor of BC. Notre Dame won the last meeting, 11-7, in South Bend, Indiana on March 7, 2020. It was BC's lone ACC game of the shortened season. Since Notre Dame joined the ACC, BC is 7-2 against the Fighting Irish. The last BC win came on April 3, 2019, 13-9, at BC.
SCOUTING THE IRISH
Notre Dame enters as the #4 team in every poll with a 6-3 (3-3 ACC) record. Last time out, they took on No. 1 North Carolina, losing 11-10. Offensively, they're led by Samantha Lynch, who has 33 points (27G, 6A) and Maddie Howe (18G, 6A). Their scoring output is spread out with five players averaging more than 20 points. In goal, Bridget Deehan has started every game for the Fighting Irish. She has a 9.63 GAA and .514 save percentage.
THE CHARLOTTE NORTH SHOW
Charlotte North has been a human highlight reel at attack this season. She has been on #SCTop10 twice and is scoring at will. A native of Dallas, she has 47 goals and six assists this season. Her 47 goals are tied for third in the nation and second in the ACC and is averaging 4.70 per game. North is also excelling at draws and has 89 this season, which is already the sixth-most in a single season at BC. She leads the second-best draw unit in the country, averaging 18.3 per game, while she averages 8.90, which is second in the ACC and eighth in the country.
She also has one of the best shooting percentages in the nation at .653, which is eighth in the country and third in the ACC. North was called "electric" by US Lacrosse Magazine and was the cover athlete for March.
RECORDS ARE MADE TO BE BROKEN
At the beginning of the 2021 season, Sam Apuzzo stood alone as BC's single-game goal scorer with nine against Navy in 2018. Against Louisville on March 28, Jenn Medjid tied that mark, scoring nine goals (including seven in the first half) to tie Apuzzo's record. Not even two weeks later, Charlotte North had one of the best single-game performances in BC history, scoring 10 goals on 13 shots to break Apuzzo's record. She also added an assist, 13 draw controls and three caused turnovers against Virginia Tech.
OFFENSIVE FIREPOWER
BC is averaging 17.3 goals per game, which leads the ACC and is third in the country behind No. 2 Northwestern and UMass. The Eagles are all over the ACC points leaderboards, with Charlotte North in second in goals with 47 and Jenn Medjid fourth with 32. Belle Smith rounds out the top-10 with 25. Caitlynn Mossman and Cara Urbank are near the top of the assists leaderboard as well, with Mossman in second dishing out 21 and Urbank in third with 19. BC has been one of the most efficient teams as well, with the best shooting percentage in the ACC at .524, which is fourth in the country.

BC heads to Syracuse to close out the regular season for a pair of games inside the Carrier Dome on Thursday, April 22 and Saturday, April 24.
