Eagles Defeat Boston University 5-2 to Move Above .500

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College hosted Boston University on Saturday at the Connell Recreation Center and picked up a 5-2 non-conference victory over the Terriers.
The Eagles moved back above .500 overall at 4-3 (2-3 ACC), while BU fell to 1-1 on the season.
The doubles point was extremely tight to open the match, but the 25th-ranked pair of Yufei Long and Kylie Wilcox defeated Emily Kim and Lily Burchell in a tiebreaker to clinch the first point. The other winning doubles tandem came from Marice Aguiar and Laura Lopez in the No. 2 slot.
The Eagles came out firing in singles, beginning with a convincing straight set victory from Long in No. 1 singles. Wilcox followed in second singles by winning a second set tiebreaker to put Boston College ahead 3-0. Lopez then clinched the match in No. 4 singles, taking her third set 6-1 against Burchell.
Sophomore Hailey Wilcox closed the day with a straight set win in sixth singles against Sofia Kostirko.
Next weekend, Boston College is set for two ACC home matches against Florida State on Friday, Mar. 12 and Miami on Sunday, Mar. 14 in Weymouth.
