Three-Match Week in NC Ends With Loss at Duke

Boston College volleyball suffered a 3-0 sweep to the Blue Devils at Cameron Indoor.
DURHAM, N.C. – The Boston College volleyball team was swept at Duke, 3-0, inside Cameron Indoor Stadium on Monday afternoon. The Blue Devils won by scores of 25-19, 25-15 and 25-18.
The Eagles had an early 8-5 lead in the first after sophomore right side Izzy Clavenna (Dallas, Texas) tallied her second kill of the day. Duke pulled ahead midway through the set, but BC used a 5-0 run to lead 17-16 and force a timeout. The Blue Devils finished off the set on a 9-2 run to claim game one.
In set two, the two sides went back-and-forth early. Freshman outside hitter Katrina Jensen (Temecula, Calif.) notched her sixth kill, which led all players the time, to tie the second 10-10. The rest of the set was lopsided towards Duke; outscoring BC 15-5.
For the match, Jensen led all players with 12 kills and hit .364 to go with four digs. Freshman setter Sophia Lambros (Fullerton, Calif.) dished out 25 assists and started the match with an ace.
Duke outhit BC .386 to .108 on the day. Gracie Johnson connected on 11 kills and Payton Schwantz added 10 on a .556 attack rate.
The Eagles return home to host Miami and Virginia Tech this weekend beginning with the Hurricanes Friday at 5 p.m.
