No. 6 Eagles Fall in Hockey East Quarterfinals, Await NCAA Fate

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The No. 6 Boston College women's hockey team fell to the UConn Huskies, 5-1, on Sunday night in the Hockey East Tournament quarterfinal round at Kelley Rink.
After a scoreless opening frame, the Huskies scored three goals in the second period. The Huskies struck again midway through the final frame for a 4-0 lead. Cayla Barnes answered for BC just a minute later but one more UConn strike with under two minutes to go iced the game at 5-1.
Abigail Levy finished with 21 saves for the Eagles while Samantha Carpentier-Yelle had 25 for the Huskies. The teams both had 26 shots on goal while UConn went 1-for-1 on the power play and kept BC to 0-for-1.
Boston College will now await a possible NCAA Tournament at-large berth, which will be announced Sunday, March 7.

- 2nd, 1:38 | 0-1, UCONN GOAL: Danika Pasqua carried the puck down the left side of the zone and centered a pass towards the slot that Morgan Wabick deflected past Levy.
- 2nd, 11:20 | 0-2, UCONN GOAL: On the power play, Viki Harkness curled off the boards in the right circle and wristed a shot inside the near right post.
- 2nd, 17:54 | 0-3, UCONN GOAL: With the puck on the left side of the slot, Coryn Tormala fought with a BC defender and batted it in with her backhand inside the left post.
- 3rd, 12:54 | 0-4, UCONN GOAL: From the defensive zone, Bouzide threaded a pass up the center of the ice and Pasqua received it and then went in on Levy and beat her glove-side with a wrist shot.
- 3rd, 13:56 | 1-4, BC GOAL: Olivia Finocchiaro won an offensive zone face off to the right and Caroline DiFiore pushed the puck up to the point where Cayla Barnes one-timed it inside the upper right corner.
- 3rd, 18:10 | 1-5, UCONN GOAL: Morgan Wabick carried the puck over the blue line on the left side, cut in as shit hit the left circle and then as she reached the right circle she backhanded a shot inside the post.
- BC now holds a 43-20-10 record in the all-time series with UConn … the Eagles are 25-10-2 at Kelley Rink … head coach Katie Crowley is 36-8-7.
- BC and UConn have now met eight times in the conference tournament with BC holding a 5-4-0 record.
- BC is now 13-4 all-time in the conference tournament quarterfinals and has a mark of 24-14 all-time in the Hockey East Tournament.
- Hannah Bilka had her point streak ended at seven games ... it was the second time in her career she's had a point in at least seven consecutive games … her career best is a nine-game point streak during the 2019-20 season.
- Bilka has registered at least one shot on goal in all 52 of her career games at BC.
- Cayla Barnes tallied her fourth goal of the season … Caroline DiFiore picked up an assist for the second consecutive game on the goal.
- Olivia Finocchiaro also picked up her fourth assist of the season on the Barnes goal.
