No. 13 Eagles Welcome No. 15 USC to East Coast for Ranked Matchup

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The No. 13 Boston College lacrosse team looks to defend the east coast against No. 15 USC on Friday, Feb. 26 at 12:30 p.m. The game will be shown live on ACC Network and is available on the Watch ESPN app.

NOW THAT'S A START
BC opened the 2021 season with an offensive explosion, scoring 22 goals on UAlbany. The 22 goals are tied for the third-most in a single game in program history. Senior Charlotte North led BC with eight goals and one assist for nine points. Six of those goals came in the first half. Her eight goals tie her career-high and is tied for the second-most in a single game at BC.
Three other Eagles had at least four points on the day. Cara Urbank scored four goals with one assist, while Jenn Medjid and Belle Smith both had two goals and two assists.

SCOUTING THE WOMEN OF TROY
USC enters 1-1, coming off a 15-3 loss to No. 5 Stony Brook on Tuesday. Leading the offense is Sophia Donovan, who has eight points on five goals and three assists, while Izzy McMahon and Kelsey Huff both have three goals and two assists. Riley Hertford started both games for USC, boasting a 10.50 goals against average and .462 save percentage. Hertford was named an Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-America Honorable Mention.

TEXAS FOREVER
Both Charlotte North and Rachel Hall are resident Texans on the BC roster.

In the season opener, North and Hall connected on a 50-yard outlet pass to which North did the rest scoring for the Eagles. The play ended up as No. 4 on SportsCenter's Top 10.

North hails from Dallas, Texas and led BC in scoring last season, tallying 23 goals and 12 assists for 35 points. The senior transferred to BC from Duke in 2019 and led the Blue Devils in scoring through both of her seasons in Durham, capping her sophomore campaign with the third-best scoring output in the country (82 g., 4.32 gpg., 105 pts.). She is an Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American and a Preseason All-ACC selection.

Hall comes to BC from Oregon, where she led the country in saves, grabbing 246 through just 18 games played. She hails from Cypress, Texas, starting all seven games last year with a .458 save percentage. Her rookie season earned her Pac-12 Freshman of the Year honors and a spot on the 2019 Pac-12 All-Tournament Team. The Cypress, Texas native most recently won gold with the U19 USA National Team, earning placement on the All-World Team at the 2019 World Cup Tournament.Â

Freshman Belle Smith came to BC as the No. 2 recruit in the country and No. 1 middie and showed why in her first game. Smith scored two goals and added two assists on the day. She also had three draw controls as well.
