Eagles Drop Season Opener to No. 4 Virginia

WEYMOUTH, Mass. – Boston College suffered a season-opening loss to fourth-ranked Virginia on Friday afternoon by a final score of 7-0 at the Weymouth Club.
The Eagles start off their season 0-1 while the Cavaliers improved to 7-2 overall and 1-0 in ACC conference play.
All Virginia players won their singles matches in straight sets, highlighted by Jeffrey von der Schulenberg and Inaki Montes de la Torre in the No. 1 and No. 2 slots, respectively.
BC's No. 1 doubles team of Max Motlagh and Sean Mullins were leading their unfinished doubles match 5-4 before UVA clinched the opening point.
Boston College looks to bounce back this Sunday (Feb. 21) at 10 a.m. against Virginia Tech at home.
