
Eagles Start Strong With Win Over Harvard

Soule Reaches 1,000-point milestone in victory
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's basketball team got the season off on the right foot with an 86-60 victory in the season opener against Harvard on Tuesday evening inside Conte Forum.Â
BC starts the season 1-0 for the fourth straight year, while Harvard falls to 0-1.Â
Three players scored in double figures, with Taylor Soule scoring a game-high 19 points on an efficient 8-of-10 shooting from the floor. The senior became the 29th member of the 1,000-point club after scoring a bucket with 31 seconds left in the opening period. Â
Marnelle Garraud dropped 13 points on five field goals and Cameron Swartz rounded out the leading scorers with 10 points. Makayla Dickens grabbed a game-high eight rebounds on top of nine points. Dickens led a bench unit that scored 32 points on the evening. Kaylah Ivey came off the bench for a team-high four assists.Â
Thirteen of 14 players who saw playing time scored and seven of the players scored at least six points.Â
Neither team led by more than four points until the Eagles put forth a torrid 25-9 surge late in the first half that went into the early goings of the third period. JoJo Lacey's trifecta ignited a stretch of eight straight made field goals, while six different players scored during the run to give BC a 47-29 advantage.
The Eagles stayed in control the rest of the way, as they never led by less than 14 points. BC outscored Harvard, 67-45, in the final three quarters en route to improving to 10-8 in the all-time series.Â
BC scored 21 points off 20 Harvard turnovers and dominated the paint with a 48-16 showing down low. The Eagles also posted a 21-5 showing in fastbreak points.Â

Boston College returns to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. inside Conte Forum to face Holy Cross.Â
