About the Eagles
Last Time Out
Boston College used a 25-9 surge midway through the second quarter to pull away from Holy Cross for an 86-60 victory in the season opener. Three players scored in double figures, with Taylor Soule pouring in 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the floor. Marnelle Garraud scored 13 points, while Cameron Swartz chipped in with 10. Makayla Dickens came off the bench to drop nine points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. Twelve of 13 players scored, and seven of the players scored at least six points.Â
A Win Would
- Give BC a 4-0 start for the fourth straight season.
- Improve the Eagles record to 31-10 against Harvard.Â
- Hand the Eagles an 11th straight win at home against the Crusaders.Â
- Move to 15-4 in November under coach Bernabei-McNamee.Â
By the Numbers
7 - Kaylah Ivey's career-high seven assists against Harvard are the most for a player coming off the bench since Dickens dropped seven helpers in 2018-19 against Bryant.
65 - After allowing 60 points to Harvard on Tuesday, BC has won 24 straight games when allowing 65 points or less and 30-1 in Bernabei-McNamee's tenure.Â
80 - BC is 21-2 in the last four seasons when scoring 80 or more points.Â
What to Watch for
- Boston College assisted on 66 percent of its field goals (23-33) against Holy Cross, giving the Eagles an 18-10 mark when assisting on at least 60 percent of their field goals in the last four seasons. Watch if the Eagles can get the ball moving for easy shots.
- The Eagles scored 48 of 86 points in the paint. See if BC can continue to dominate down low.
- See if BC can force Holy Cross into mistakes after the Crusaders committed 25 turnovers in their season opener against Northeastern. BC turned 20 Harvard mistakes into 21 points on Tuesday.
- BC's reserves combined for 32 points, 25 rebounds, and 12 assists in the win on Tuesday. Watch if they can continue to provide a spark.
- Boston College has won 24 straight games when allowing 65 points or fewer and is 30-1 in Bernabei-McNamee's tenure. Watch if the defense can build off its performance after limiting Harvard to 31 percent shooting.
Scouting Holy Cross
- Holy Cross fell to Northeastern in its season opener, 71-45, on Wednesday evening.Â
- Avery LaBarbera and Oluchi Ezemma led the way with 12 points each.Â
- Ezemma also led the team in rebounds with eight and added four steals.Â
- LaBarbera and Ezemma combined for 24 points and 25 rebounds in the setback.Â
- The Crusaders bring back three All-Patriot League selections in Bronagh Power-Cassidy (ROTY), LaBarbera (all-league), and all-rookie member, Cara McCormack
- HC returned 95.6 percent of its scoring from last season's squad.Â
- Maureen Magarity is in her second season at the helm with the Crusaders following a 7-8 COVID-plagued season.Â
