Chukwujekwu Claims Program's All-Time Blocks Record on Sunday

Eagles swept by Demon Deacons on the road as graduate middle blocker makes history.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Graduate middle blocker Amaka Chukwujekwu (Laurel, Md.) became the Boston College volleyball program's all-time leader in blocks on Sunday in a 3-0 loss at Wake Forest. She entered the day four back of the record and finished with four kills to push her career total to 452 and surpass Kristin Roberts (1992-95) for the top spot in the BC record book.
The Eagles (15-16, 5-12) lost in straight sets by scores of 25-18, 25-22 and 25-20. BC look in control of evening the match at one set apiece late in the second, but the Demon Deacons (15-12, 6-10) finished the game onn a 9-2 run to take a commanding lead in the match.
Boston College netted just 21 kills on the day with a team-high coming from graduate outside hitter Clare Naughton (Atlanta, Ga.). Wake's Delaney McSweeney led all players with 12 on a .857 attack rate.
The Eagles return to action on Friday for Senior Day at 1 p.m. against Virginia in the regular season finale.
