
Eagles Start Fast, Fall in Four to Hokies

BC volleyball hit .333 in the first set before dropping three straight to Virginia Tech.
BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Boston College volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss at Virginia Tech on Friday afternoon. The Eagles evened their record at 15-15 overall and 5-11 in the ACC, while the last-place Hokies improved to 11-17 and 2-14.
BC dominated the first set, hitting .333 and winning 25-18. Virginia Tech bounced back to claim each of the next three sets by scores of 25-22, 25-19 and 25-22.
Graduate outside hitter Clare Naughton (Atlanta, Ga.) led all players with 17 kills and added 15 digs for her 19th career double-double. Senior outside hitter Mackenzie Fuhrmann (Berkley Heights, N.J.)Â posted a career-high 13 kills.
Cera Powell led a Hokie attack that hit just .184 with 12 kills. Virginia Tech totaled 18 blocks for the match. Tasha Vipond totaled 12 and Marisa Cerchio added 10 as each contributed six kills.
The Eagles are back in action Sunday at Wake Forest at 1 p.m.
