Eagles Dominate New England Championship

Boston College dominated the New England Championship by taking first place in both the women’s varsity and sub-varsity races today at Franklin Park.
BOSTON — Boston College dominated the New England Championship by taking first place in both the women's varsity and sub-varsity races today at Franklin Park.Â
In the varsity, Lauren White led the team placing first overall in the women's five-kilometer varsity race, beating her previous personal best at Franklin Park with a time of 17:14.Â
Teammate Anna Oeser crossed the finish line only ten seconds later which earned her third place (17:24). Sarah Flynn finished 25 seconds behind Oeser, in seventh place (17:50). Kylee Raftis was tenth overall in a time of 17:53, followed by Paige Carter in 11th place (17:58). The Eagles 1-5 finishers were separated by 44 seconds.Â
Sorcha McAllister (18:26) crossed the finish line in 25th place and Weronika Lewna (19:04) rounded out the team in 54th place.
As a team, the Eagles compiled 32 points to take the team title. New Hampshire (99) came in second, followed by Dartmouth (125), Quinnipiac (157), and Brown (162).
A convocation of Eagles commanded the sub-varsity 5K, led by Katherine Mitchell's time of 18:19 that earned her first place. Mitchell was followed by Kayla Smith (18:21) in second, Ella Whitman (18:36) in third, Katherine Connolly (18:39) in fourth, Miriam Ruoff (18:43) in fifth, Roshni Singh (18:45) in sixth, and Maureen Lewin (18:45) in seventh.Â
After today's success, Coach Randy Thomas has his mind on the Pre-National Meet in Tallahassee, Fla. this coming Friday, Oct. 15.Â
"It was so wonderful to see all the smiles and happy faces after both races. All ran exceptionally well. They can now travel to Florida State next week on a much better note."
