
No. 14 Boston College Takes Down No. 12 Virginia in Overtime

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Elizabeth Warner's overtime goal won the game for No. 14 Boston College downed No. 12 Virginia, 1-0 at Turf Field.
During a scoreless first half, Margo Carlin led the way with two shots on goal.  Warner, Fusine Govaert, and Milagros Arteta all had one shot on goal during the first half. Arteta made the only shot on goal for the Eagles in the second half as the Eagles and Cavaliers played 60 scoreless minutes.
Warner's game-winner came from Sky Caron in the fourth minute of the first overtime after her apparent goal in the 57th minute was waived off. She found the back of the cage, firing it past Virginia goalkeeper, Tyler Kennedy.
UVA held a 12-7 edge in overall shots, while Boston College maintained the advantage, 7-5, in shots on goal. The Cavaliers attempted five penalty corners to one for Boston College. Jonna Kennedy was outstanding in goal for Boston College, shutting out the Cavaliers with five saves in total.
With the win, BC moves to 8-3 and 1-3 in ACC play. Boston College returns to action at Richmond tomorrow, Sunday, Oct. 10 at 1 p.m. The match will air live on ESPN+.
