Eagles Close Out Regular Season with a 2-1 Win at Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — No. 13 Boston College downed No. 15 Wake Forest, 2-1, on the road this afternoon in the 2021 regular-season finale. Â
The first half consisted of a lot of strong defensive play on behalf of both teams with both Margo Carlin and Nell Webber taking shots on goal.
Early in the third quarter, Webber found the back of the net with an assist from Carlin. Just under four minutes later, Elizabeth Warner capitalized on a penalty corner with an assist from Sky Caron. Wake countered with a fourth-quarter goal, but could not get any closer.
BC held the 7-4 advantage in shots and a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal. BC attempted three penalty corners to one for Wake Forest. Jonna Kennedy had two impressive saves including a crucial near goal for the Demon Deacons in the last two minutes of play.
With the win, the Eagles finished the regular season with a 12-5 overall record and a 3-3 mark in conference play.
BC is set to open play in the 2021 ACC Championship as the fourth seed, taking on fifth-seeded Virginia on Thursday, Nov. 4 at 1 pm in Syracuse, N.Y.
